Owning real estate is so popular right now that there is an imbalance between motivated buyers and available homes to buy. As anyone with any interest in real estate has already heard, there is a shortage of inventory in Southern California. If you’re considering selling, this is a great time to make it happen. If you are competing with the crowd of hopeful buyers, it’s important to remember that there are still thousands of homes for sale, and you only need to get one.
The strategies that I encourage in every market are even more important when you face a lot of competition. Be prepared with a complete and up-to-date mortgage application file. Cultivate an open mind—stretch your envelope a bit in different directions and see if you might like a house that differs a bit from your initial profile. Be nimble. Make a priority of being one of the first to see a new listing, and the first to write an offer. Make a distinctly positive impression—letters to the seller and creative, seller-friendly contract terms do make a difference.
